AI Operating System
An AI assistant that runs inside your business. It reads and drafts your email, keeps your calendar, and works in your documents and spreadsheets, on a server you own. This page explains exactly what it does with your Google account, why it needs each permission, and how to switch it off.
What this application is
Startup to Sold installs an AI Operating System for small and mid sized businesses. It runs on a private server owned by the business, not on shared infrastructure. The owner talks to it through a private web page, and it does routine work that would otherwise sit on someone's desk.
Typical jobs it handles:
- Email. Reads incoming mail, sorts what matters, drafts replies, and sends the ones the owner approves.
- Calendar. Reads the schedule, books meetings, and prepares the owner for what is coming.
- Documents and spreadsheets. Writes reports, keeps trackers current, and pulls numbers together.
- Files. Saves its work where the business already keeps things, in the owner's own Drive.
Connecting a Google account is optional. The system works without it, and simply does less.
Why it asks for Google access
The work above is the product. An assistant that cannot open your inbox cannot triage your inbox, and one that cannot write to your calendar cannot book anything. The permissions below are what those jobs require, and nothing is requested that is not used.
You are connecting your own account to your own server. The permissions are granted to software running on a machine the business owns. Startup to Sold does not host your mail or your files, and does not operate a shared service that holds many customers' data in one place.
Every permission, and what it is for
| Permission | What it allows | Why it is needed |
|---|---|---|
gmail.modify |
Read, organize, draft and send mail | Triaging the inbox, writing replies, and sending the ones you approve. Google offers no narrower permission that can send mail. |
gmail.settings.basicgmail.settings.sharing |
Read and change mail settings, filters and signatures | Setting up filters and a signature during onboarding, so sorting rules run in your mailbox rather than only inside the assistant. |
drive |
See, create, edit and delete your Drive files | Saving reports and working documents into your own Drive, and reading the files you point it at. |
calendar |
See and change your calendars | Reading your schedule, booking meetings, and moving things when you ask. |
documents |
See, create and edit Google Docs | Writing and updating documents such as reports, plans and meeting notes. |
spreadsheets |
See, create and edit Google Sheets | Keeping trackers and numbers current in the sheets your business already uses. |
userinfo.emailopenid |
See your email address and confirm who you are | Knowing which account it is connected to, so it uses the right mailbox and calendar. |
What it does not do
- It does not sell or share your data. Your information is never sold, rented, or handed to advertisers or data brokers.
- It is not used to train AI models. Your mail and files are not used to train any model, ours or anyone else's.
- It does not pool your data with other customers. Each business runs on its own server, with its own accounts.
- It does not send mail behind your back. Outbound email that matters is drafted for approval before it goes.
How to disconnect it
You can revoke access at any time, without asking anyone. Go to your Google account permissions page, find Startup to Sold, and choose Remove access. The assistant loses its Google access immediately.
Full detail on what is stored, for how long, and how to have it deleted is in the privacy policy.
Who runs this
